May Liu-President of Superstar Art Foundation Tells Her Dream of Helping Artists

Dendy Media: Today we’d like to introduce you to May Liu.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

My name is May Liu, I am an artist, media host and social influencer, film producer, screenwritter and financial advisor. My career includes: President of Superstar Art Foundation (2019) Founder of Miss Economic World Pageant. (2020) Jury member of Film Finance Award in Cannes 2012 Vice chair of 2018 US China International Film festival in Texas. Awards and credits: “Shadow Day” Selected by Berlin Filmfestival as “Top 7 must see” film in 2014. “Best Screenplay” Award winner for the film “Blooming Sisters”. As film producer I have involved in the financing for movie: “The Revenant”“Escape Plan 2”. My first produced film:“Shadow days”(Top 7 Chinese movies in Berlin film festival 2014) “Fake Fiction”(China released 2014), “Inside out”(China released 2016) etc. I have master degree in Finance in Baruch CUNY, has been doing investment banking for years. I works closely with famous family offices and top fashion designers, and created “Superstar Collections” fashion brand, and I have a weekly TV show “May we talk” interviews artists and business owner to promote talent and non profit, My painting experience started 10 years ago. I do water color, acrylic and oil painting, specialized in human figure and animal portrait, I am creating my own style to put humanity and asian elements in my artworks. I did a book about my oil painting recreation for my foundation to mentor art learners, I’d love to share with you all later.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

There are many challenges I had on my career. The biggest challenge I had in my career is to find the right path for myself. I believe the meaning of a life is a process of discovering yourself. To find a true you, to discover the power inside of myself potential capabilities, It is a challenge for me to make changes when I have a good first job at wal-mart, I made my decision to proceed my master finance degree. When I had good income for doing my finance, I made my decision to produce movies. People think I am crazy: “may, you have good job that’s making a good salary, why change? " , I said "yes, but that’s not me, I have a bigger dream!" It is my passion that brought the energy to me towards my dream! Try to have a different mindset and have a bigger dream, make yourself to step out of the comfort zone you currently have, to find a new way to explore who you really want to be, and what you really want to do is a challenge.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

Superstar-art-Foundation is a public charity foundation that does fund raising activity to help artists and support non-profit program. Our foundation provides a community for artists to network and help each other, to connect funder for their project, to participate professional training, and job opportunity, Our service and program are as followed: 1.Event organizing for Charity art show, fund raising and online & offline networking. I.e. At begining of covid19 in 2020We have organized a PPE product donation among our members. 2020-2021 Miss economic world event is an annual event to support woman artists. Superstar Gala is our annual member networking event hosted in 2019. 2.Superstar Online Academy training program provides innovative training programs on fimmaker, art creator, personal brand, designer to young artist and enterprise owners, that empowers and delivers the support they need. 3.Superstar online shop provides online exhibit and artwork product sales 4.VIP Membership program is to provide customized service to our client regarding their specific project or donation needs. Superstar Art Foundation executive team is made of a group of professionals from the industry of fashion, entertainment, financial, legal etc. By working with our licensed partner, We can offer a broad spectrum of financing and planning solutions that help to serve artists are considering join the foundation or looking for efficient ways to contribute to them as followed: Personal Art wealth management, including physical and digital artwork donation, investment, resale, exchange, auction, preservation, trade. Personal treasure and family heritage management service and beneficiary rights allocation.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Believe in your capability, have passion in whatever the work you do. Do not be afraid of changes, do not be afraid of doing things that you never did, because you never know what you are capable of until you do it. On the way to success, there is always doubts, difficulties, different voice from others, don’t let those bother you, stick to your goal, no one can tell you, you can or cannot until you do it.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

A Successful life means to me is that I can live the way I wanted, A successful business to me means my business being appreciated by most people and can help others to be successful and live better life.

What’s next for you?

The next for me to do is to let more artists and philanthropist know about our foundation, understand our mission and how we can help them to achieve their goals with their profession. I will continue Miss Economic World competition and Superstar online academy program and charity art show to mentor more artists. To get more funding support on our artist training program and humanity art projects, especially movie projects, so we can ma better support artists to realize their dreams. My goal is to set up a $100M film fund by the end of this year to finance 1-5 humanitarian movies annually to support filmmakers and provide job opportunity for young artists. My dream is to build a creative art center for all artists around the world to come to live, to learn, to create their artwork, to exhibit and trade artworks.
